An aircraft carrying Pete Hegseth was required to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was found in the jet's front window, according to an official statement which confirmed that the secretary was unharmed.
"The jet landed following standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, including Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson commented in a social media post.
He was traveling back from a brief trip to the city of Brussels when the incident occurred.
This incident does not mark the first occasion that a US military aircraft transporting a high-ranking official has suffered technical problems.
Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was required to return to Washington after suffering a mechanical problem.
