Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia's three-match ODI series facing India, with in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw receiving a unexpected inclusion.
The right-hander was left out from the one-day international team following being dismissed for one in both of his innings during the top-end series against South Africa in August. He has a top score of 47 in his previous ten ODI innings.
Labuschagne has played 68 one-day internationals and accumulated 1,871 ODI runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a Test team comeback in time for the Ashes starting in Perth on 21 November.
Recent performances suggest of a resurgence with a score of 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw scored a century for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his first white-ball appearance in the upcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Tests with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia look for a answer to their opening batting issues.
